Mental Health

The RFDS offers a number of programs to support individuals and communities address and manage mental health issues. By locating services in the heart of communities such as Longreach, Central Queensland, and Far North Queensland including the Cape York Peninsula the RFDS can provide a ‘hub and spoke’ service model, covering small communities across large geographic areas.

A Mental Health Professional will enhance community access to quality, multi-disciplinary, comprehensive primary mental health care services and will work within a primary health care framework. Your work will focus on the provision of clinical counselling interventions as well as the development and delivery of promotion, prevention and early intervention activities to enhance social and emotional wellbeing of individuals, families and communities.

The RFDS delivers multiple mental health services including the Drought Wellbeing Service, which provides clinical and non-clinical support to those in drought affected areas, and a range of social and emotional wellbeing services.
